“Poppies….poppies will make them sleep!” That’s what the wicked old witch says in the Wizard of Oz anyway, but personally I can’t take my eyes off of them! These poppies came in for my wedding last week and I truly fell in love with their delicate beauty and vibrant colors.
Before blooming the petals are crumbled inside the buds and like some amazing miracle they manage to emerge as they unfold and break through the fuzzy pod-looking buds. Sort of an Audrey II looking bud, but happily they only require light and water to survive!
Not only are they beautiful, but they have a faintly sweet fragrance that reminds me of strawberries. That makes the poppy a true winner for me. What’s your favorite color poppy?
